Ashley Graham Turned a Food-Shaming Saying into a Body-Positive Meme

The first time I heard the saying, “a moment on the lips, forever on the hips,” was on an episode of “Friends” when a character food-shamed another character for eating a slice of pizza. The line, which was meant to be a joke, always left a bad taste in my mouth (no pun intended), especially when I would see it reposted on Pinterest or on social media. This is why I’m so thankful that Ashley Graham, supermodel and self-love activist, transformed the phrase from a food-shaming saying to a body-positive cry.

On Tuesday, the 30-year-old model posted an Instagram of her eating a head-sized cinnamon roll. The picture featured Graham lifting the pastry up to her mouth as she closed her eyes and took a huge bite. Though Graham looked more fab than we ever would mid-cinnamon-roll-bite, the real star of the Instagram was her caption: “Once on the lips, gonna look good on these hips 💁🏻‍♀️”

Instead of shaming herself for eating a cinnamon roll (because we all need to eat), Graham showed her followers that there’s nothing wrong with treating yourself every now and then, and there’s certainly nothing wrong with gaining weight. Graham’s clever wordplay turned what was once a food-shaming saying into something body-positive that will ring in our minds every time we experience food guilt.

Just when we thought that we couldn’t love Graham more, she serves up an awesome Instagram caption, proving that cinnamon rolls are totally worth the bigger hips.

Ashley Graham Drinks This Essential Oil Every Day to Beat Bloat

Whether she’s teaching us makeup hacks or dishing out tips on staying body-confident, Ashley Graham is a well of wisdom. Now, she’s helping us with our digestive system, too. In a recent interview with Glamour U.K., the 30-year-old model revealed the essential oil she swears by for beating bloat and keeping her digestive system happy—not to mention, her breath minty fresh.

In an article breaking down her wellness and skin-care secrets, Graham revealed that she drinks peppermint oil mixed with water every day to help with bloating. The model, who specifically swears by the brand Young Living Essential Oils, also ingests Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides daily to keep her hair, skin, nails, bones, and joints healthy and strong.

“I love mixing peppermint oil in my water to help with bloating. My favorite brand is by Young Living Essential Oils. I also take Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides for my hair, skin, nails, bones and joints,” she said.

According to registered dietician Amy Shapiro, who talked all about the health benefits of peppermint with The Cut, peppermint oil mixed with water—the most effective way to add peppermint in your diet—helps with a slew of digestive issues, including bloating, gas, and stomach cramps. The herb, which works as a decongestant to ease muscles, also helps with menstrual cramps, headaches, and allowing food that’s stuck in your digestive track easily move through your body. Essentially, it’s a win-win for almost anything.

Along with peppermint oil, Graham also revealed her secret to keeping her skin radiant and smooth all-day long: rose water. The model keeps a bottle with her wherever she goes so she can spritz some rose water on her skin to instantly hydrateand refresh herself. Rose water is known to maintain the skin’s pH balance, control excess oil, and help with inflammation, so Graham is clearly onto something by carrying it with her 24/7.

“I use rose water because it refreshes the skin and instantly makes it feel smooth. It can also be applied easily multiple times throughout the day,” she said.

What other secrets does Graham have up her sleeve? Clearly, we need to know them all.

Ashley Graham’s Husband Trolled Her by Drawing Pubic Hair on Her Bikini Photos

Ashley Graham knows how she likes her pubes, and how she likes them is full. The 30 year-old model has never been shy about her body hair, such as when she told Glamour last year, “Honey, I have a full bush. Period. It’s about your preference and your partner’s preference.”

That being said, not everyone pro-bush. So, it’s no surprise Sports Illustrated has yet to hop on Graham’s bush train, as seen in the recent shoot for the magazine’s swimsuit edition. In the photos, Graham is featured tugging at her bikini bottoms—revealing almost everything—when it becomes clear she’s hair-free from the belly button down.

The missing bush wasn’t forgotten in Graham’s family group chat, though. Recently, the model posted a screenshot of the conversation on her Instagram story and it’s the kind of family convo we wish we could have.

It started with her husband, Justin Ervin, who sent a photo from the shoot with drawn-on black pubic hair adding, “Needs a bush to make this photo better!” Graham quickly chimed in with, “You wish your bush looked like mine” followed by sister, Abigail, remixing Sir Mix A Lot’s “Baby Got Back” with, “I gotta big bush & I cannot lie. You other brothers can’t deny…”.

As the three cheered on the return of the bush, Graham’s mom clapped back with, “I have no bush and it’s divine. Be jealous.” Damn, Mama Graham, tell them how it is. All we can say is, we wish our family was this fun and as open with our grooming habits as theirs.

Ashley Graham’s Hairstylist Uses This Surprising Hack to Fake a Fuller Hairline

There’s no doubt that Ashley Graham is drop-dead stunning, but even the most show-stopping celebrities need the help of beauty hacks from time to time. Enter the 30-year-old model’s hairstylist, Justine Marjan, who, in an interview with Elle, revealed her genius hack for avoiding uneven sections in your hairline.

In an interview in Elle‘s February issue, Marjan—who has also worked with stars like Olivia Culpo, Fifth Harmony, and a little-known family named the Kardashian-Jenners—broke down her easy trick for faking a fuller hairline, and her secret is likely already in your beauty closet.

“No one has a perfect hairline, so I like to fill it in with with an eyeshadow that matches the color of the hair,” Marjan said. “It looks fuller in photos and creates the illusion of depth. When I see a red-carpet look without it, I’m like, ‘Who let her go out like that?’”

That’s right. Marjan (a.k.a the hair wizard to the stars) uses a teeny bit of eyeshadow, which she sweeps across her clients’ heads to create the illusion of thicker, fuller hair. (Just make sure that the shadow matches your roots.)

Marjan said that she uses the hack almost every time she styles a celebrity for the red carpet, so we’re assuming that the trick works well in faking thicker hair for pictures. Though it’s highly unlikely that we’ll be walking the red carpet any time soon, we can still adopt the hack for some slay-worthy Instagram pictures. See you never, uneven hairlines.

Ashley Graham Gave Her Thigh Crease This Empowering Nickname

From nicknaming her love handles “side butts” to telling herself positive affirmations in the mirror every day, Ashley Graham is a huge believer in how the language that you use to describe your body shapes your self-confidence. So it should come as no surprise that the 30-year-old model has given her thigh crease a body-positive nickname, too.

Graham revealed her body-positive secret on Tuesday’s episode of “America’s Next Top Model,” where she praised a contestants “thigh brow” in an underwear photoshoot. Confused, fellow judge Tyra Banks asked Graham, “What’s a thigh brow?” That’s when Graham put her leg on the judge’s table, lifted her skirt, and showed the goddess-like crease on her upper thigh.

“Oh, it’s like a brow,” Banks told Graham while stroking her thigh.

Of course, Graham is far from the first person to use the nickname to empower her body. A quick search of #thighbrow on Instagram will turn up dozens of pictures of women showing off their thigh brows in all their glory.

And while Graham didn’t originate the term “thigh brow,” she did bring it to the attention of hundreds of thousands of fans who will hopefully now think twice about the way they see their thigh creases. Every day we learn a new body-positive lesson from Graham and this time, it’s about how we can change the language we use to describe our bodies.
